President Obama hosted a summit designed to get world leaders to commit to securing their nuclear arsenals. Having lived through the nightmare 80′s with fears of nuclear annihilation hanging over our heads, all I can say is, it’s about time.

While the sentiment may not be popular,
The President’s made me feel jocular,
Thanks to his summit:
The thing I learn from it?
Thank God this one can pronounce “nucular!”

The lack of a public option in the President’s bill severely disappointed me, but I’ve been brought round to a strong supporter of the President’s plan by something I read today…

Despite Obama’s good report,

Health Care Reform I did not support,

Til I heard Limbaugh say,

He would “move far away!”

My support now provides him escort!

Fall Into The Gap

The much-heralded Health Care Summit finally happened. The one that should have happened at the beginning of last year, with the left putting single-payer on the table. Maybe then we could have compromised to the point where a public-option is now on the table. Waiting this long, the President gave the Republicans plenty of time to politick the issue… whether by flying the same small group of tea-partiers to different congressional town halls last summer or playing with expectations by saying today’s summit was a set-up, or trap. When will this President realize that the Republicans, at least with regards to health care, are implacable?

In attempting to “bridge” today’s “gap,”
Our Prez was accused of a “trap.”
He has to remember,
That GOP members,
To a man just could not give a crap!
