Black Sheep

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Please try to keep me apprised,
Of those on the list of despised,
Like the Repub’ who’s gay,
Finds he’s Tea-party prey,
And tell me why is he surprised?

More in My Pocket?

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

I find that it f*cks with my cravings,
And I quickly end up spouting ravings,
Regarding “spring forward,”
I feel un-moored,
And hate this thing called “daylight SAVINGS.”

A-Roving

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

I find Karl Rove not that mature,
In trying so hard just to court your,
Support for his notions,
Despite his devotions..
To techniques that clearly are torture.

Hard-Boiled Meg

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Hoo boy. Politics just keep getting better and better. Meg Whitman, while running touchy-feely ads all over California for the GOP nomination for Governor, won’t let reporters ask her questions or even agree to debate her Republican opponents. She’s spending $150 million of her own money on ads alone, in a blatant attempt to buy the Governorship. Is this what we’ve come to? Is this what Sarah Palin has wrought? I may be wrong, but I think Americans want MORE access to their politicians, not less. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer have run multiple statewide campaigns in this state, and have sat at many press conferences and debates. What makes Republican women so fearful?

One running for office named Whitman,

Regarding the press won’t permit ‘em,

To ask, only “see.”

So does that make she…

A candidate or just a shit-pun?

Swayed

The lack of a public option in the President’s bill severely disappointed me, but I’ve been brought round to a strong supporter of the President’s plan by something I read today…

Despite Obama’s good report,

Health Care Reform I did not support,

Til I heard Limbaugh say,

He would “move far away!”

My support now provides him escort!

Big Sausage

Monday, March 8th, 2010

What could be more bizarre than the recent behavior of retiring Representative Eric Massa, charged of sexually harassing an aide at a New Year’s Eve party, resigning (but *not* for *that*), then claiming it was all a set-up because he is the deciding vote on health care reform… then finding a fan in Glenn Beck? What a… sausage. Still, in some cases, he might be right.

A Congressman named Eric Massa,

Lost more than a small bit of class-a:

Turning ethics to dust,

Is healthcare now bust?

Among Dems there’s no bigger kielbasa!

Chief Sales

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Our Prez seems to know well what ails man,

But in attacking the issue he tails an…

Über-skeptical public.

To avoid a flub-trick,

He must become an über salesman.

Grow up.

Top-ten most downloaded songs on iTunes,

Makes me feel I’ve joined the ranks of old prunes,

Of them all I own one!

Does that make me a nun?

Or just someone who’d rather play spoons?

View from the Top

With regards to the big health care summit,

There’s one thing a Dem can learn from it:

Pass fixes or fear,

For your career;

Fail and you’ll watch your polls plummet!

Fall Into The Gap

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

The much-heralded Health Care Summit finally happened. The one that should have happened at the beginning of last year, with the left putting single-payer on the table. Maybe then we could have compromised to the point where a public-option is now on the table. Waiting this long, the President gave the Republicans plenty of time to politick the issue… whether by flying the same small group of tea-partiers to different congressional town halls last summer or playing with expectations by saying today’s summit was a set-up, or trap. When will this President realize that the Republicans, at least with regards to health care, are implacable?

In attempting to “bridge” today’s “gap,”
Our Prez was accused of a “trap.”
He has to remember,
That GOP members,
To a man just could not give a crap!

Patriotic Anthem

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Anthem Blue Cross, a subsidiary of Wellpoint, recently announced that they were raising rates for individual health insurance policy holders in California by 39%, and similar double-digit rate increases in 11 other states. This despite the fact that the company spent $27 million dollars on Executive retreats in 2008, and made over $4 billion profit in 2009. Is there really any question anymore that we need a public option to compete with these thieves and rapists and truly bring costs down? Please call your Senator and ask them to support the public option. Today’s limerick:

When asked, the C.E.O. of Anthem,

Why her rates had such need to expand some,

Could not come to admit,

Her percentage gambit

Is less like a fee than a ransom!

The Best Part

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Last week Cheney suffered a bad one,

First his speech at CPAC was a tad shunned,

Then it came to his heart,

Which, attacked, made me start,

For who knew that he even still had one!

“I was a big supporter of waterboarding.” – Dick Cheney, ABC’s This Week, 2/14/10. Did you know that Ronald Reagan’s White House criminally prosecuted an American citizen for torture, because that citizen water-boarded? Google it.

Sad Clown

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Glen Beck spoke at the CPAC convention Saturday, and while I don’t think he cried, he certainly didn’t disappoint those looking for ridiculous quotes and outlandish behavior. He pronounced the Obama Administration a “clown show.” Hmm… who else has he referred to as a clown? Check the links.

You don’t have to be on the down low,

To feel something more than profound woe,

To hear Glen Beck assert,

He’s become the expert…

At discerning just what makes a “clown show.”

Bye Bye Bye

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

This one requires you to pronounce “the” the short, American way… “Thu” as opposed to “Thee.” Senator Bayh was one of those Democratic Senators “on the fence” about the public option with regards to health care, and always willing to stab his own party, and his constituents, in the back. For me, that means he will NOT be missed.

You can pity weak-kneed Evan Bayh,

Deciding he wasn’t the guy,

To be our new Chief,

Now that’s a relief,

As for me I’ll gladly say Buh-Bye.
